1. European Outdoor Chef Grill

The First Grill to make the list is the European Outdoor Chef Grill. This is actually a portable gas grill but we loved it so much that we included it anyways. What makes the European Outdoor Chef Grill so great is its features and functions. It is almost like having a full sized grill. It has a very high heat output and a large cooking area for such a small unit.

2. Old Smokey Classic

The Old Smokey Classic is not the greatest looking portable charcoal grill you will see but it is still a great one to own nonetheless. The Old Smokey Classic is available in three different sizes, 14, 18 and 22 diameter inches. This portable charcoal grill is easy to carry around and it is also easy to use. One Downside of the Old Smokey Classic is its height. You will need to purchase leg extensions if you do not want to hunch all the time while cooking.

3. Weber 616002 Char Q Portable Charcoal Grill

The Weber Char Q is a well designed portable charcoal Grill. The Weber brand alone gives you a good indication of its durability and versatility. The Weber Char Q Portable Charcoal Grill measures 32.5 x 18.1 x 14.8 inches and it has a total cooking area of 280 square inches. A customer of the Weber Char Q Portable Charcoal Grill commented that you have to pay extra close attention while cooking because the distance between the fire and the grill is pretty short. Therefore, the food might burn easily if you do not flip it at an appropriate interval.

4. Weber Smokey Joe

The Weber Smokey Joe is probably the least portable charcoal grill out of the five listed but it is still a great grill to own. It is the perfect portable charcoal grill for tailgating parties and camping trips. It has a 14 1/2 inch diameter grate. This means you can easily cook three steaks at a time. The porcelain-enameled bowl of the Weber Smokey Joe reduces the chances of rust and it enables even heat. You also get a limited 10 year warranty and a 31 page Owner’s guide with great tips on cooking.

5. Uniflame Premium Portable Charcoal Grill

The Uniflame Premium is a great small charcoal grill. Most customers found it compact, clean and easy to use. One problem most customers had however was the set-up. They found it took some time to figure out the instructions but they stopped complaining once this portable charcoal grill was on full flow. One customer was able to easily cook five hamburgers and about fifteen hotdogs with the Uniflame Premium Portable Charcoal Grill.

The Bayou Classic Fold-And-Go Portable Charcoal Grill is the perfect grill for tailgating parties. It is a portable charcoal grill which you can take around with no heavy burden and it is also extremely easy to set up, taking only a few seconds. This portable charcoal grill also comes with a strapped tote bag to help you carry it around.

With a cooking surface of 266 square inches, you can easily cook up to 15 burgers in one go. One customer who bought the Bayou Classic Fold-And-Go Portable Charcoal Grill said he has been satisfied with this Portable Charcoal Grill ever since it arrived on his doorsteps.

One minor downside of the Bayou Classic Fold-And-Go Portable Charcoal Grill is the lack of cover. As a temporary solution, you can cover this portable charcoal grill with tin foil. Many also recommended that purchasing a Weber Rapidfire Chimney Starter would help start a fire immediately.

For a price of $36.68, The Bayou Classic Fold-And-Go Portable Charcoal Grill is quite a steal if you consider its ease in set up and great portability. You may be able to find cheaper models on Amazon for as low as $20. If you are not sure on whether to buy The bayou Classic Fold-And-Go Portable Charcoal grill then I recommend you read more customer opinions on the Amazon Review page. Here are some reviews we have come across for the Bayou Classic Portable Charcoal Grill.

By Robert Dito

We have been going to the ny jets football games for over 30 years. The problem since I don`t care for trucks or suvs is space in my honda accord trunk. Well I don`t have that problem any more. With the Bayou it folds up and fits easily. But besides that you can use match light charcoal so in a matter of minutes the food is already cooking. No propane to buy and carry around. When we are finished just clean up and put back in the trunk. I would recomend this grill to anyone who has limited trunk space and loves to tailgate. PS it is cheaper then all the other grills at this size.

By Leeanne Frascona

I love this grill and would recommend it when space is an issue. I’ve used it for two tailgating seasons and it’s holding up better than I would have imagined. At [...] bucks, how could you go wrong? You could buy a new one every season for a lot less than the meat you put on it. Cooking is adequate for an open top charcoal grill, grilling surface area is pretty large considering and construction quality is decent. Design is great. The grill is reasonably stable after being assembled. I would recommend having some paper towels for cleanup in case any grease has run down the side of the grill. Setup and packing is easy. Only negative is the sides tend to warp a little after several uses due to the metal being exposed to the hot coals.

If you are looking for a charcoal grill which is perfect for a party of four or less then the Char Griller Patio Pro 1515 may be just the charcoal grill you need. Many customers have given the Char Griller Patio Pro excellent reviews because of its versatility and performance. This effective charcoal grill has 250 square inches of cooking surface, a large drawer to store your tools and a cooking grate made of cast iron. The Char Griller Patio Pro 1515 will last a very long time as it is made of 14-gauge steels, weighing a total of around 15 pounds. Another benefit of owning the Char Griller Patio Pro 1515 is its elevation. Unlike most Weber grills, The Char Griller comes with a high stand so you do not have to crouch while you cook.

The only downside most customers reported was the assembling process. Firstly, you have to make sure you have an area to assemble the Char Griller Patio Pro 1515 because the pieces are coated in oil (it can get very messy). Most customers reported that the assembling manual was totally worthless as some pieces had wrong measurements. Despite this problem, many customers were extremely satisfied once they got their Char Griller Patio Pro under way.

The air ventilation system of the Char Griller Patio Pro 1515 allows for even heating. You are recommended to coat the cooking grate with vegetable oil and leave it to heat up for around 2 hours to remove the oil and stink which usually comes with any new product. The Char Griller Patio pro 1515 is available for a price of $95.70. This is slightly higher than the prices of other similar charcoal grills but many customers claimed the investment was well worth it in the long run. Here are some other reviews we have come across for the Char Griller Patio Pro 1515.

By Matthew Walker

Great small grill- if you don’t have a lot of room, this is the grill for you. The iron grates are great (pun intended) for even heat distribution. It is too small to use charcoal baskets, but if you scrape the coals to both ends you can do some indirect grilling. It’s just big enough for a 5-6 pound beer can chicken. The assembly instructions are terrible, but as a guy that’s half the fun. Be sure to properly season it before use- coat all surfaces with vegetable oil and fire up enough coals to burn for a few hours. It’ll burn off all the excess grease, paint, etc. used in manufacturing.

By Phillip Leggette

this is a great little grill. assembly was not at all difficult. if missing lockwashers are an issue, reserve them for the vents. rated 4 instead of 5 only because the lid is misaligned. this is more cosmetic than functional. when the time comes, i will get another.

The Lodge Logic Pre-seasoned Sportman’s Charcoal Grill is a hibachi-style charcoal grill. It is made with durable, cast iron which makes it work great for picnics, tailgating and any outdoor parties in general. The Hibachi-style grill also has a cast iron cooking surface grate. The size of the cooking surface measures at around 17 1/4 inches by 9 inches. This should be enough to cook a meal for six people or less.

What makes the Lodge Logic Pre-seasoned Sportman’s Charcoal Grill so great is its versatility. You can easily control the temperature of the grill by rotating the grill away from the heat source. Cleaning is also convenient with the Lodge Logic Pre-seasoned Sportman’s Charcoal Grill. All you need to do is hand wash the charcoal grill with a stiff brush and hot water. Here are some of the opinions of customers who purchased the Lodge Logic Pre-seasoned Sportman’s Charcoal Grill.

Gary Webster

I’ve now had the Lodge Hibachi for 4 months and typically use it several times a week. Clean-up is even easier than it was when new. Remember to put a little olive oil or PAM on the grids first and the seasoning improves. In cold, rainy weather, the hibachi fits and cooks nicely in my fireplace (thanks, Ukiechris!), but I crack a window when I do that.

Although quite heavy, it’s a great picnic grill and will easily cook chicken, steaks or burgers for 4 people. My Webers must think I don’t love them anymore. I do, but the Lodge is perfect for 1-4 people and chicken cooked on the hibachi has a flavor my kettle or barrel grills just can’t match. Besides cooking for that tribal gathering, I’ll let you know if I find something the Lodge can’t do.

Bonny Dune

This is a wonderful tool. I don’t know why Lodge doesn’t give more information on how to use it. Yes the charcoal bowl is deep. That makes it perfect to bake potatoes wrapped in foil, or just put large sweet potatoes directly on your coals. Turn them as each side gets burnt black. At about forty minutes put your meat on the grill and you have a great meal. Nothing beats those sweet and smoky potatoes. Yum.

No grill cover? Well no it does not come with one. But if you put your large cast iron skillet upside down over that chicken it will grill beautifully. And I have noticed Lodge’s Fish Pan is sized to match this grill. I haven’t gotten one yet, but I have measured it in the store and I think that used upside down it makes a perfect lid. This is a great way to smoke things. Of course this is for strong adults only. Wearing protective clothing. Buy a pair of those leather oven mitts Lodge sells when you get this grill, you will be glad you did.

If there is one book which will attract you into the art of charcoal grill cooking then ‘Thrill of The Grill’ by Chef Chris Schlesinger just happens to be one. ‘Thrill of The Grill’ which is a charcoal grill recipe book written by John Willoughby and Schlesinger is an excellent recipe book which will want you to start lighting those dormant charcoals as soon as you open the first page. It is that great. In this charcoal grill recipe book, you will find endless number of exquisite but delicious grilling recipes as you flick through the 400 pages. For example, you will find recipes like Swordfish steak with Yucatan Orange-herb paste, Grilled Chicken with Ethiopian Berbere and many more.

So what did customers have to say about the ‘Thrill of the Grill’ Charcoal Grill recipe book? One customer mentioned that there were a few reasons why some people may be disappointed by the charcoal grill recipe book. Those who are most likely to be disappointed are those who are expecting a book about barbecue only and those who quibble about minor errors. This book is not a barbecue bible. If you are looking for a book on various techniques like smoking and slow grilling then this is not the book for you. If you are looking for recipes from a wide range of cuisine then this charcoal grill recipe book is for you. Another customer reported that he never used one specific recipe book so much until he got a hold of ‘Thrill of the grill’. The customer recommended that it is suited for those who like to experiment and have fun while grilling.

According to another reviewer, the authors of ‘Thrill of the Grill’ do not even consider the use of gas grills at all. You will find no mentions of propane, bottled gas and natural gas at all. It is evident by this observation that Chef Chris Schlesinger has a great passion for charcoal grills. The core section of the charcoal grill recipe book is split into five chapters. These chapters are sorted into appetizers, fish, meat, unusual ingredients like frog legs and the last chapter focuses on the author’s interest in pickles. This book is available at Amazon Marketplace for a price of $14.00. If you wish to read more reviews about this charcoal grill book then feel free to visit the Amazon review page before purchasing this excellent grilling book.

When it comes to lighting charcoal, there is no better way than to use the Weber Charcoal Grill Rapidfire Chimney Starter. There are good reasons why you should use a chimney starter to start a fire than doing so without one. A chimney starter enables the charcoal to catch fire easily so you will save time and effort. It is also a hugely better alternative to lighter fluid which can leave an undesirable taste in your meal if it is used by a great volume.

The Weber Rapidfire Chimney Starter is made with aluminized steel and it is attached to a thermoplastic handle. You do not have to worry at all about the product quality because Weber always uses high quality material. With this Chimney Starter, you can fill enough briquettes for a 22 1/2 inches kettle charcoal grill. An excellent example of a Charcoal Grill which suits this amount is the Weber One-Touch Silver. The cone shape on the bottom of the Rapidfire chimney starter also improves the efficiency in lighting the charcoal.

So what did customers who bought the Weber Rapidfire Chimney Starter have to say about this great product? One customer stated that the efficiency of this chimney starter fulfilled its name, Rapidfire. Compared to the old chimney starter he used, it took half the time to light a charcoal using the Weber Rapidfire. The main reason behind this is a feature which is well hidden under the metal casing of the Rapidfire Chimney Starter. The Weber Charcoal Grill Rapidfire Chimney Starter uses a conical wire grid instead of the traditional perforated metal plate. This allows all the flame from the newspaper to reach the charcoal.

Another customer was also impressed by the quality of the Rapidfire Chimney Starter. He also mentioned that he no longer had to worry about the volume of briquettes required as his charcoal grill is filled perfectly by using the Rapidfire Chimney Starter once. If you would like to read more reviews before purchasing this chimney starter then click here. Already made up your mind? Click the button below to purchase your Rapidfire Chimney Starter for a special price of $13.60 through Amazon (price may change).

Using a Charcoal Grill during an outdoor party or camping trip is always a lot of fun. The only problem is how you are going to transport it to your final destination. Some Charcoal Grills are too heavy and big; they just lack the portability to be carried around from places to places. Luckily, Weber has developed a portable charcoal grill which comes in handy in such as situation. The Weber Go-Anywhere Charcoal grill is not the biggest of portable charcoal grills which you come across but it has a pretty decent size for the cooking surface (160 square inches. of cooking area).

The Weber Go-Anywhere Charcoal grill is manufactured without nuts and bolts, which means it is so much easier and faster to set up than other portable charcoal grills you may find in the market. It also comes with short legs which pivot and lock into place. I would recommend the Weber Go-Anywhere Charcoal Grill for anyone who requires a versatile companion while camping or in tailgate parties.

With the Weber Go-Anywhere Charcoal Grill, you can easily cook two to three meals from a single load of charcoal. Another positive aspect of the Weber Go-Anywhere Charcoal Grill is the easiness of setting and dissembling the charcoal grill. Many of the customers commented that they were easily able to pack and touch the charcoal grill after 15 minutes (time after fire was put out). Unfortunately, if you want a portable charcoal grill which can cook large meals like turkey then this is not the grill for you. It is capable of supporting up to six and eight persons but no more.

The Weber Go-Anywhere Charcoal Grill is also suitable for beginners because you will rarely experience flare-ups and it is also easy to set up. The air dampers which come with the charcoal grill are also easy to operate. One downside some customers reported was the stands which support the grill. They commented that some of them became faulty and had to be replaced after using the grill a few times. Other than that, The Weber Go-Anywhere Charcoal Grill is the perfect companion for outdoor lovers. Price for the Weber Go-Anywhere stars at $44.70. You can get it shipped for free using Amazon’s Super Saver Shipping. If you are still not sure about this Weber Charcoal Grill then feel free to read more opinions from customers at the Amazon Marketplace.

Simply and easy to put together. Easy to clean up and store. I use it when I pull my camping trailer. It will not hold a lot of food, but that is not a problem for me.

A good charcoal grill for when you need portability. I recently bought a Smokey Joe Silver and cooked side-by-side with my Go-Anywhere, and this grill is definitely more convenient for camping trips and other excursions. Both are good quality, as you’d expect with a Weber, but the Go-Anywhere has a lot more control for vents and packs up better for travel. It also has the prongs so I can hang the hot grill cover off the side, and the Smokey Joe Silver does not. Capacity on this grill is about six burgers, or three to four steaks (depending on size).

The Barbecook Arena Charcoal Grill is a uniquely designed grill which resembles the look of a bar seat. One of the first things we were impressed with was the ease in starting a fire. There is a base which you can stuff the newspaper in and this will allow the charcoal to burn quickly once the paper is burning. This means there is no need to purchase lighter fluid or a chimney starter.

There are many benefits which come with the Barbecook Arena Stainless Steel Charcoal Grill. As mentioned before, the charcoal is extremely easy to burn without the use of lighter fluid or a chimney starter. The BarbeCook Arena is also constructed with good quality material (stainless steel) which makes it very durable. You also do not need to worry about rusting as it is constructed using stainless steel.

Unfortunately, the main problem of the Barbecook Arena Stainless Steel charcoal grill is that there are not many suppliers in the US as Barbecook is a Europe based company. Your best chance of purchasing this grill is either through online shopping websites like Amazon or through Barbecook’s official website which will have a list of vendors which sell this magnificent charcoal grill. The fact that it has been designed for pure direct heat may also be a stumbling block for charcoal grill lovers.

Other than these problems, The Barbecook is an excellent choice for an open charcoal grill. The Barbecook Arena sells at a price of around $260 which makes it more expensive than its Weber competitors but if you are looking for an unique charcoal grill to show off to your friends then the Barbecook Arena Stainless Steel may just be the charcoal grill which you are looking for.

The Weber 60020 Ranch Charcoal Kettle Grill is one of the biggest Charcoal Grills you can find in the market today. It is effectively known as the ‘steroid’ of charcoal grills because of its great performance and versatility. It is more than big enough to support a large crowd so this charcoal grill is suitable for caterers as well as country club and restaurant chefs.

Overall, the diameter size of the Weber Ranch Charcoal Kettle is approximately 37 and ½ inches. It is so big that you can fit more than ten whole chickens on the grill in one go. The Kettle models are signature products of Weber and the reason for this is due to its excellent durability and performance. The Weber Ranch Charcoal kettle is constructed with a Porcelain-enameled bowl, two glass-reinforced nylon handles and two durable wheels. The height of the Weber Ranch Charcoal Kettle stands at approximately 42 inches while the depth of the charcoal grill is 44.75 inches. So what is so great about this charcoal grill?

One customer was really satisfied as the largeness of the charcoal grill meant he could enjoy the meal together with his family, rather than having to cook while the rest ate. The Weber 60020 Ranch Charcoal Grill also comes up with an easily controllable air vent which allows you to regulate the heat and burning charcoals. As the grill is very big, it may take a while for the charcoal to burn but using a chimney starter will greatly reduce this waiting time. Probably the biggest advantage of the Weber Ranch Charcoal Kettle is its portability. You can take it anywhere with little problems. There are durable wheels attached which can stand all weather.

The greatness of this charcoal grill however comes at a price. Starting sales price starts at around $1099.99 but if you are looking for a charcoal grill which can support a large crowd then this should definitely be your first choice. Purchase your Weber Ranch Charcoal Kettle at a price of $1099.99 or cheaper at Amazon.

I have had this product for over 2 years now and I love it. I have read other response about how difficult it is to clean. You are talking about a massive grill that sits in your yard get some degreaser and blast it with your hose. cleans up great. I have no problems with this grill. It is a must have for the true BBQue enthusiast. I use my for BBQ comp, I am able to have a fire on one side and cook passively. I took the charcoal grate out because of how close it keeps the coals, if you remove that one and put in a 22″ grate for a standard weber and put it in the bottom it will keep your coals at a better distance and it is big enough so the 3 vents on the bottom can still breath. Love the lid design and the holder system that is made for it. I would recommend this product to anyone.

The Old Smokey Charcoal Grill follows a simple but classic design. It may seem like a rubbish bin from the outside but this charcoal grill proves to be one of the most versatile and simplest-to-use charcoal grill in the market today. There are three different sizes available for the Old Smokey Charcoal Grill: 14, 18 and 22 inches in grill diameter sizes. The 22 inches Old Smokey Charcoal Grill can easily cater for six to eight people while the 14 inches Old Smokey Charcoal Grill is recommended for less than four people.

One of the first things you would notice when you look at this grill is its short stands. This may be excellent for bag pack campers but it may prove quite hazardous for your back if you are using it in your backyard or garden. This is obviously because you will need to bend down frequently when cooking. Luckily, Old Smokey also provides long legs for this Charcoal Grill so you can easily get the extensions to increase the height of the grill (Note that these extensions are not on sale anymore on Old Smokey’s official website).

One major advantage of having the Old Smokey Charcoal grill is its versatility to either choose indirect or direct heat. You will also find that the Old Smokey Charcoal Grill is one of the easiest to set up. This Charcoal Grill is manufactured with aluminum coated metal making it durable in the long run. Many customers of this charcoal grill had no problems cooking anything on the grill, ranging from simple Burgers to long racks of barbecue ribs.

There are drawbacks however to this grill, although these problems which were identified tends to be universal with any other charcoal grills which exist in the market. Firstly, you may get frequent flare-ups although this can be reduced by placing the charcoal carefully. Y0u will also have to wait a while for the Old Smokey to heat up and cool down. This means the time it takes to clean this grill will often take a while.

Other than these drawbacks, The Old Smokey Charcoal Grill is an excellent choice for chefs who still have some love for charcoal grills. You will get extremely delicious meats if you cook properly with this grill and what makes it even better is that it is available at a low price of $40.95 for the 18 inches grill and $61.95. If you are planning on purchasing this charcoal grill then I recommend you get the 22 inches because you never know if you will ever host a garden party in the future, its only around $20 more.
