Lighter Fluid
Step 1: Placing the charcoal
The first step is to placing the charcoal. Bear in mind that dumping the charcoal straight into the grill will not provide pleasant results in the end. Your aim is to shape the charcoal so that it has a pyramid-like shape. The shape does not have to be perfect! As long as it looks more or less like a dormant volcano then you are all good to go to the next step.
Step 2: Applying lighter fluid
The second step is to then apply the charcoal with lighter fluid. Before you start applying, have your lighter at the ready. Also, do not soak the charcoal to the point that you have a small pool of lighter fluid in your Charcoal grill. I can guarantee that applying too much lighter fluid will leave a bad taste in your barbaque food so use it sparingly!
Step 3: Burning the charcoal
The third step is where the fun begins. Grab your lighter and light the Charcoal immediately after you have applied the Lighter fluid. If everything has gone according to plan then you should have a fire started.
By now, your fire should be up and burning. Only start cooking once your charcoal has more or less turned greyish white.
Extra tips and warning
Here is your first warning. Remove the lighter fluid after step 2 and keep it some distance away from the charcoal grill. You never know as a little spark can trigger an explosion. Another warning is to never apply lighter fluid on a burning charcoal. All you are going to achieve is a fireball aimed at your face.
If you want better taste for your barbequed food then consider cleaning your charcoal grill before each usage. It can reduce the bad smoke which usually leaves a bad taste in your mouth. The most important tip yet, buy good quality charcoal! Why? Good quality charcoal = good quality barbaqued food. It is as simple as that. The better quality charcoal should also so burn easier.
If you do not want any undesirable flavour in your barbequed food then consider knowing how to light a charcoal grill without lighter fluid.
