Learn your Barbeque techniques and tips

One of the biggest mistakes people make before using charcoal grills is by just slapping the meat, burger or whatever food on to the grill without much thought. Yes, barbecuing may seem as simple as ABC but if you want the perfect tasting meal then here are a few bbq techniques and tips which you should be aware of before you start cooking.

Firstly, if you are using a charcoal grill then there will be a few occasions when you will have flare-ups, gas grill users may have flare-ups as well but it is much easier to control them. Here is your first BBQ tip. When you spread out the charcoal, do not spread it over your grill completely. You want to have at least two ‘cool’ spots on either side so that you can move your food when it becomes too hot or when the flame starts to burn more wildly.

With that in mind, never fill your whole grate with food as well as you will need empty spots to move any food which gets too hot or shows signs of burning.

Another useful BBQ tip is to have a spray bottle at the ready. You do not want to just pour water down with a cup or else that would just kill the fire altogether. Using a spray bottle with clean water enables you to knock down the flame that starts to get out of control.

There will also be times when you cook meat with plenty of fat dripping. These are what you should observe the most. Fat dripping into charcoal will obviously give you more potential of flare-ups so it is important to be closer to those types of meats when cooking, especially when you are using a charcoal grill.
